Setup and troubleshooting

The short version of getting Profit Zones set up, and what to check when something looks off.

Your Keepa API key

Profit Zones needs a Keepa API key to load product data. Without one, the panel says “Keepa API key not configured” and Bulk will not open.

Open Settings and go to the Keys & Licenses tab. Paste your key, click Save Key, then click Test Connection. Checking the key uses Keepa’s free token check, so it spends no tokens. Your key is stored in Chrome and sent only to Keepa.

Where the panel appears

The panel appears on Amazon product pages. Docked left or docked right pins it to the side of the screen and pushes the page aside. Embedded places it on the page itself. Switch between them from the panel’s own menu. The expand control on the chart opens the same live chart in a large window; close it with the X, a click outside, or Escape.

Costs and fees

The COGS box accepts simple math, such as 2.99*3 or 18/6, and remembers the cost you commit for each ASIN on this device. Custom Fees is where you build named fee sets of your own costs, such as prep, labels and polybags. Each can be a flat amount, an amount per unit, or an amount per pound of billable weight, with quantity tiers for multipacks.

Profit Settings also holds your inbound shipping cost per pound, your sales tax percentage, and a VAT Registered option for marketplaces with VAT, which computes profit on the price without VAT.

Seller Central

The sell-eligibility lock in the panel header is free. Green means approved, yellow means approval is needed, and red means restricted. It reads your own Seller Central session, so you need to be logged in, and it asks for your one-click consent first. FBA inventory by fulfillment center, units in transit and Your Price are Premium. Details are on the Seller Central page.

License and seats

One Premium license covers 2 Chrome profiles. To activate, open Settings, go to the Keys & Licenses tab, paste the license key from your purchase confirmation, and click Activate. If you lose the key, use the “Email it to me” link in the same place.

Bulk

Bulk first reads Keepa’s data that is already saved in your browser, which needs the Keepa extension installed. That path uses no API tokens. If the Keepa extension is not installed, the scanner warns you right away. A Keepa API key must also be saved before the Bulk page opens.

Troubleshooting

  • The panel says “Keepa API key not configured”. Click Open Settings and save your key on the Keys & Licenses tab.
  • Bulk says no Keepa API key is configured. Save a key in Settings, then open Bulk again.
  • The 3-Step Check shows an amber gear or SETUP NEEDED. That step is still on default settings. Click the gear to jump to the setting.
  • The eligibility lock pulses amber. It is waiting for your one-click authorization. Click it to allow access for this browser session.
  • The eligibility lock is a steady amber. Amazon paused the check temporarily.
  • Bulk asks to use API tokens. Install the Keepa extension so scans read Keepa's data already in your browser.

Update Profit Zones now

Chrome installs approved updates on its own within about a day. These steps pull the new version immediately.

  1. Open the Extensions page. Type chrome://extensions in Chrome’s address bar.
  2. Turn on Developer mode. The toggle sits in the top right of that page.
  3. Click Update. With Developer mode on, an Update button appears in the top bar next to Load unpacked and Pack extension. Click it once. Chrome re-checks the Web Store and installs the new version within a few seconds.
  4. Confirm. Reload your Amazon tab and read the version in the top left of the Profit Zones panel header. Optional: turn Developer mode back off.

If Update does nothing, the Web Store can take a few hours to propagate a new version after approval. Try again later. The extension updates itself either way.
